Concrete Counter Tops

In the past few years as people have tired of the same old hard surfaces, designers and architects have searched for a honest, easily molded material. Concrete is the answer. The trend was started with the display tops in Pottery Barn stores and with the popularity of the "industrial" look.

Concrete material for tops costs about $ 1.00 per square foot but the tops sell for upwards of $ 50.00 per square foot. Molds and installation comprise a lot of the costs but the business is highly profitable with little investment.

My former company made tops for some of the Pottery Barn store for 2 years. We also did residential and restaurant tops.

There are two approaches to production:
Make upside down in a mold
or
Cast in place and finish the top and edges

Both are viable methods and I can help with both.

Not to discourage business but I would recommend that you buy the book "Concrete Counter Tops" by Fu-Tung Cheng and learn all you can from it and do some sample tops. When you need help from someone with actual firsthand experience contact me.

Good Luck
